Moderately Open Starting Points

The situation is not as open as with the very open starting points. These starting points are available as open briefs in which the user of the product and the situation in which the product will be used are suggested but the exact nature of the product is left open. This provides pupils in a class with the opportunity to develop different responses to the same brief.

The exact nature of the products designed and made will depend on the age and previous experience of the pupils and the resources available in the school but giving the pupils some limited autonomy will increase their ownership of the endeavour and their motivation.
